   About Spoofbay

The aim of this website is to increase the security awareness of the eBay and PayPal Community

One of the main scams which deceives many victims into parting with their usernames and passwords is the bogus email from a correspondent, who may even list and sell auction items as bait to catch unsuspecting buyers.

The email of "congratulations" soon arrives, and the buyer is invited to click on the Pay Pal or Ebay button to pay for the purchase. Of course, the buyer must also "log in" to his ebay/pay pal account to do so.

The victim then bites the dust and instead of becoming a PowerSeller, he or she quickly becomes a PowerLoser, for the online identity thief is no different from a burglar who breaks into your house with your fraudulently obtained username and password keys. Within a few moments your online business can collapse and your money stolen.

The safest way to respond to emails is to log in to your account at the official ebay or PayPal sites by typing their urls into your browser, rather than clicking on links in emails that may look genuine.

Go ahead and take the test!   Are the following links genuine? Click to find out - and learn from experience!
